Fresh Meats, Cheeses, Fish and Vegetables
As you enter the market you first encounter Downland Produce, selling great fresh & cooked meat. If you are into faggots; don’t say you’ll get them on the way back, because there sure to be gone! The sausages are some of the best I have tried, and the gluten free Toulouse Sausages are meaty (this is why I have decided to sell them in the Butternut Deli).
If you are looking for dairy products, or that special cheese; stop at Hania Cheeses. Ken would be pleased to assist in your choice as he offers over 100 varieties. You can choose from anything such as Dorset Blue Vinny, to Stinking Bishop or even, when in season, French Vacheron!
Fresh fish is a must to many peoples diet and you won’t be short of choice with Harts Fish Mongers. I always buy my fish here. The family business really offers great service and variety of very fresh fish.
After passing by the fish your senses are filled with the aroma of olives, garlic & bread. Viva Oliva really offer a great range of hand marinated olives, antipasti, olive oils & bread, great for supper!
Fruits, Tarts and Quiches
Of course the Butternut Deli is there to offer the sweet toothed customer a selection of over 10 different cakes & tarts, savoury tarts, quiches and pies. Our Gluten Free Range suits all particularly those with dietary requirements. Local Wiltshire honey, honey comb & heather honey is also available.
An abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables are on display, you can choose from organic and non organic, both stalls offering great quality, seasonal produce and enormous variety. The fruit and vegetables are loose, nothing is pre-packed!
Right at the very end of the market you’ll find Bruno ‘the French guy’, selling all those holiday favourites from St Agur cheese, dried fruits, pastries to fois gras, pate and meat.
If you get great pleasure in buying from the producer you’ll love ‘Glam Lamb’. They put all the hard work into rearing & caring for the animals, looking after the farm, and even after all that they still make it to the market nearly every Thursday. Rack of lamb, shoulder or leg; its your choice, and if you are hungry, you could always indulge in a hot lamb burger.
To compliment the Market there is also a beautiful display of fresh flowers, and Wiltshire Plants selling flower pots, hanging baskets, bedding plants and seasonal shrubs. If you need a greeting card to accompany them, Mike is there with a wonderful selection.
