Michael Cain Visits the Butternut Deli
When the Butternut Deli received the local food hero nomination we were delighted, from there on we received nominations and reviews from a wide range of our customers, from the markets in Bristol, Bradford on Avon and Wells in Somerset.

The reviews (which you can see on UKTVfood.co.uk, local food directory) are very overwhelming and rewarding in themselves. We were soon informed of our success in being put through for the South West regional finals.

Michael Cain was the representative for the South West and was due to visit the Butternut Deli to meet ourselves, customers and the delicious products we sell.

The nerves were with everyone on the day of the visit, to put your self up for criticism and review by a renowned chef and most of all have it published on television it was very frightening.

Michael was a great guy, putting everyone at ease, and his true interest in our business, family and unique products from in and around the Bristol area was reassuring. The whole experience gave us the motivation to continue and have a foresight into the future and what it may bring.

It was great to show case so many different products from our most favourite suppliers, to show off their quality, taste and reward the suppliers for their commitment & skill in their product. Michael also did a taste test on some of my own baking which I must say brought a smile to his face as well as the film team!

Experiencing being filmed was scary but also great. John (little) the camera man and John (big) producer were fantastic really making the whole day an experience I can always look back on with a smile, nerves nearly got the better of me especially during the interview but accompanied with a lot of laughs & jokes I was able to get through it.

The deli became cramped very quickly as news spread of our visitors, customers were keen to be involved as like suppliers, friends and family. We would like to put out a great big thank you to you all for making it a very special day. We would also like to thank UKTV food for this recognition for ourselves and all of the other small producers / retailers in the country. Some times it can be hard working for yourself and you can often feel defeated & low, how ever recognition such as this really gives you a boost and motivation, making it all feel worth while!
